We spent all day in the car and we’re tired but we’re in Fairbanks.
Crossing the border into Alaska was even easier than it was getting into Canada. The border patrol guy asked us only what we were bringing in that had been purchased in Canada. When I said “a couple of cans of beer” that we bought in Smithers, he joked that I’d want more than that after suffering through the road construction that we’d soon be facing.
Lot’s of bumpy roads and contruction. At one point the box with our dishes (all metal) was airborne.
Tomorrow we’ll drive to Healy for a 12 day stay in our first AirBnB. Not packing up again will be nice.
Also, we’re at about 64.5 degrees north latitude and it’s June 14th. Sunset is at 12:40am. Then sunrise will be at 3am. Welcome to Alaska.
