Sunday Morning
Our plan was to start early and row on the rowing machine, then find coffee and go to Fake Cedars in Juneau. We were a little later than planned leaving the AirBnB and then struggled to find an open coffee place. Once we finally found coffee we were certain to arrive late for the service, so we decided not to go. (Later we tried to find the church so we could take a picture but couldn’t even find it. So it’s good that we didn’t abandon the search for coffee.)
We must have eaten something at the AirBnB for lunch.
The West Glacier Trail
The trail was supposed to be about 7 miles with 1400 feet of vertical which doesn’t sound bad, but all of the climbing was focused on the end which meant that there were places with stair cases carved into the rock and other places where we were using ropes to help maintain balance on exposed granite. The weather was mostly not too hot and we ended up with one of the best glacier views that we’ve had. (This is Mendenhall Glacier, again.)

We were looking down at the glacier and I didn’t really comprehend how big it was until I noticed some small moving specks. The specks were people and they were near the helicoper in which they had arrived and I had also failed to notice. Truly, the glacier was immense.

Yes, this picture is of a helicopter sitting on the ice.
