Ptarmigan Lake

Hiking

We drove to the trailhead and walked up Ptarmigan Creek.

In many places the path was nearly overgrown. We’re supposed to make noise so any bears around know that we’re there. Today the noise was me complaining about the overgrown path. Eventually we arrived at this lake:

Then we took our own picture in front of the lake:

When walking back down the path we saw this Ptarmigan:

And continued walking back down the creek.

The Cookery

The Cookery is a fancy food restaurant in Seward. We went there. We had halibut/artichoke dip with toasted sourdough, creamy mushroom soup, brussel sprouts with a soy glaze, sunflower seeds and cotija. For mains we ordered cauliflower/chickpea tikki masala and salmon in a creamy red sauce. Arlene had an Italian Montepulciano and I had a Pinot Noir from Sokol Blosser. (Arlene and I visted the Sokol Blosser winery on July 16th, 2017. It was sunny and we sat on a deck overlooking the vineyards. The previous day I had riden the STP.)

Apparently they know how to do fancy food in Seward.
