Rocks and Flowers on the Trip to Denali
We stopped in Chilliwack to look at the herons and found this Pacific Ninebark on the path to the heron rookery.

At Smithers, we took a walk by the Bulkley River.
Here is Red Columbine.

Here is Meadow-rue.

And what would a river walk be without a couple rocks. My iPhone doesn’t identify rocks so…

While driving down the road by Stewart, BC I took this picture of these beautiful dandelions. I think I need to rethink my relationship with these flowers.

After we arrived in Dease Lake, we went for a walk around Allan Lake.
Here is Columbine…iPhone is not more specific so maybe we can call it Purple Columbine.

Here is Comfrey.

And here is some Mooseberry.

While we were waiting for the accident to be cleared as we left Dease Lake, we stopped at Swan Haven. I found these cool green rocks by the lake.

For most of the drive, Lupines have been hanging out on the side of the road.

At Destruction Bay we took a short walk by Kluane Lake
Here is Utah Sweetvetch.

Here is Silverweed.

Here is Jacob’s Ladder.

While neither geology nor anthology, this midget forest is kind of cool.

While waiting for church on Sunday morning, we walked through the garden of the Princess Cruise Line Riverside Lodge.
Here is Dame’s Violet.

And more unidentified rocks.

Denali National Park
Our first hike in Denali National Park was around Horseshoe Lake.
Here are some Tall Bluebells.

Here is Wood Horsetail…so much like those unwanted horsetails in the yard…and another non-flower…

And yet another non-flower…Water Milfoil.

We hiked the Mt Healy Overlook trail. Three and a half miles up with 2200 ft of climbing. Up wasn’t too bad but down showed we have some work to do on our hiking fitness.
Here is a Rhododendron.

Here is Scrubby Cinquefoil.

Here is Narcissus-Flowered Anemone.

Here is a Trailing Azalea.

Here is a big rock.

Here is more rock.

Here are some rocks from Mt Healy.

Beautiful flowers and very cool rocks. I know nothing about rocks, but the last couple shots are really neat – thanks for sharing!
This is going to be so exciting to tag along on your journey!
